A Business School with dual international certifications

Oxford College of Business is now the only education provider in Sri Lanka that hold dual ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications, offering its customers top quality education of the highest quality and environmental standards. “Oxford College of Business continues to take a leadership role in initiating policies and practices that ensure the Business School provides educational services as a global, corporate environmental citizen by complying with internationally recognized and accepted recyclability practices,” said the course director of Oxford College of Business. Oxford College of Business has also implemented various sustainability initiatives; among them, “OXFORD THINKS GREEN” program, developed to help all employees and students at OCB to meaningfully engage with and positively influence its environmental and recyclability goals and objectives.

“We are very proud of our team for achieving dual ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications,” said Chairman of Oxford College of Business. “Education at Oxford College of Business has always been known for their high levels of quality and proven academic performance by our students at the professional, academic and post-graduate level. We are excited to now be recognized as offering the highest level of sustainability to our existing and prospective customers, while adhering to stringent environmental practices that support the local facilities and related communities in which we operate.”

ISO 14001 is the international gold standard for environmental management. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO), based in Geneva, Switzerland, promotes the development and implementation of voluntary international standards for an environmental management system (EMS). A facility receiving ISO certification has implemented an EMS that includes formalized practices to protect the environment, including manure handling, waste treatment systems, water conservation, sanitation and good housekeeping practices. OCB’s commitment to ISO certification began in 2012 when Oxford College of Business started voluntarily implementing a comprehensive EMS on-campus. Today Oxford College of Business is proud to be regarded as the 1st educational provider in the country to receive ISO certification of its Environmental Management System (EMS). The managing directors at Oxford College of Business also goes on to state that “our commitment to the environment will also be inculcated on to our students, who will know the importance of preserving the environment they live in. This is an important part of our mission in producing fully rounded business individuals who will take the environment into consideration when they make decisions in their own organizations.”
